Sir,
In my telegram of 28th February I stated that |
Jwqb I accepted the proposals in the War Office letter of
3441 September 12th, 1924, as to certain questions arising out of
the Oakley award and that I would address you further as
soon as certain matters under discussion locally were
settled.
2. I have delayed the promised further
communication as long as possible in the hope that some practical steps would be taken towards the carrying into effect of the proposals to move the military establishments
out of the island of Hongkong and that I should be in a
position to put any matters in dispute clearly before you.
Nothing, however, has been done and there seems at present
little prospect of anything being done and as I shall leave
the Colony within the next few days I must write now or not
at all.
3. In the 3rd paragraph of the War Office letter !
of the 12th September the Army Council say that "if it could be shown that the proposed widening of Garden Road and
Queen's Road would result in some specific naval or military
benefit, they would be prepared to consider the question of
allowing
